As we head into out tenth episode, we delve into our first animated film, but not one you would think of straight away. It's the anime 'Your Name.', from director Makoto Shinkai that quickly became the highest grossing anime of all time. If you listened to our 'Top 10 Films of 2017' podcast you will know that we both ranked this quite high for the year (Maybe even the highest you could.)

And so we come to the 3rd year in our traditional 'Daniel V Dean' battle in the Academy Award Winners Draft. Can Dean finally break his losing streak, or will Daniel grab the Hat Trick? Rules are simple, we go back and forth snake draft style, drafting every nominee in every category for the 2018 Academy Awards. Whoever has the winner from each category gets a point. The winner of the bet gets to choose 3 films for the loser to watch over a 2 week period. Now since there are 24 categories and we would prefer not to have a tie (I mean, who would?) The Best Picture category is worth 2 points. Will that change their strategy? Find out on the podcast!

It only took us 7 episodes before we hit our first foreign film, and on this podcast we tackle the 2014 Argentinian film, Wild Tales. Being an anthology film, does that hinder it compared to a full length feature? We go through each of the 6 short stories, discussing their connective themes and giving our rankings of all 6. Dean gives us his alternative titles to each story, while Daniel learns what a cabin chief is.
We also discuss our favourite films that aren't in the top 250, and Daniel drops a surprise announcement on Dean, as well as bringing in a new segment. We're back! We both survived Christmas, New Years and even a milestone birthday, and we've come out the other side into the Golden Age of Cinema. Our first of many Hitchcock films, we ask the question: does this really deserves the greatest film of all time title it has received on some lists? Dean tries to get Daniel to get invested in a sequel, and can't stop talking about his love for Midge, while Daniel takes his love for colour to the next level. We also give a big update on the IMDb Top 250 list, and get into a jumbo size version of what else we've been watching, including a couple of Golden Globe winners. Finally, Daniel gets Dean to pay up on a bet.
